Jamie Dornan: The New Christian Grey

Thank you, Charlie Hunnam for not wanting your fame to be Robert Pattinson-esque having “scheduling issues”. I don’t want you to be billionaire hunk Christian Grey anyway.

Irish actor Jamie Dornan is on the final stages of being cast as the billionarie BDSM enthusiast Christian Grey in the adaptation of EL James’ best-seller Fifty Shades of Grey.

The 31-year-old, 5’11” Dornan  began his career in modeling for brands like Dior, Armani, and, Calvin Klein underwear. Mmmmm… Easy to picture him doing all what we expect of him. Haha!

His first film is Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppolla in 2006. He was also part of the ABC series Once Upon a Time and the BBC miniseries The Fall. I have not seen any of those but seriously… Would we care about his acting prowess?

He married actress Amelia Warner in 2013 and they are reportedly expecting their first child together. Keira Knightley (my girl crush) is his ex girlfriend. He will be playing opposite Dakota Johnson, cast as  the lucky bitch Anastasia Steele.

Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled for release on August 1, 2014. I wonder if they still can get  replacement for Dakota Johnson. Oh well.

CLOSER: Red Turnip Theater’s Maiden Production

The film adaptation of Patrick Marber’s award-winning play has always been in my Top 5 list of favorite romantic dramas. It stars Jude Law, Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in a story that involves love, seduction and deception. “If you believe in love at first sight… Take a closer look.”

New theatre company, Red Turnip is staging Closer at Whitespace in Chino Roces Ext, Makati. It’s on its last 2 weekends. I’m watching this because I’m an Angel Aquino fan and I think Marc Abaya is a pretty good actor. Also interested on if Cris Villonco can pull off my all time favorite role of Natalie Portman.

Yep, this is the one where she’s a stripper.

It’s Official: Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam Cast as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey

Dakota Johnson and Christian Hunnam are set to play the highly coveted roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the mommy porn movie adaptation of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.

The best-selling author tweeted that Fifty Shades will be released on August 1, 2014.

Dakota Johnson is probably best known for her role in the short-lived sitcom Ben & Kate. She also has parts in The Social Network, Beastly and 21 Jump Street.

If you think she is familiar but you have not seen any of those movies I mentioned, it’s probably because she is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

She is also an image model for Mango. For their jeans line, me thinks.

Do I think she can be the quiet virgin turned doninatrix Ana Steele? Yes, I think so. Plus, she actually looks good with black hair.

As for the role of billionaire, tormented, hot demigod Christian Grey, I’m disappointed that Charlie Hunnam got the role.

I read all three books and the Grey that lives in my head looks nothing like him.

Charlie Hunnam may be best known for his role in Pacific Rim. He’s currently part of the FX series Sons of Anarchy. *yawns*

I know nothing of his acting prowess (not even sure if he has it) but hey, Fifty Shades is mainly about sex. That and cheesy lines.

I don’t think anyone will mind the casting choice as long as Dakota and Charlie pull off the s&m scenes in the red room of pain.

BONGGA! NAKAKATUWA AT NAKAKATAWA!

The best Pinoy comedy I have ever seen. And no. Hindi ito eksaheradang reaksyon. Katangahan, kalandiaan, ka-witty-han, kasentihan, kabaduyan galore!

Hindi ko in-expect na hahagalpak ako sa kakatawa ng maraming beses kasi #1, hindi ko nabasa ang libro at #2, hindi kasi ako natawa masyado sa trailer. Pinanood ko
nga lang ito sa sinehan kasi nagtext sa akin si Heartbreak Kid. Tinanong kung okay lang daw ba na baduy ang date namin at manood kami ng Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo. game naman ako diyan kasi I have always appreciated Ramon Bautista’s humor. Feeling ko, maa-appreciate rin niya ang humor ko kung mameet niya ako. Btw, babae si Heartbreak Kid, isa sa mga pinaka-crushable na kaibigan ko. Gusto ko sanang yung crush ko na hindi ako crush ang kasama ko manood pero hindi nga ako crush eh so shempre waley. Ginusto kong manood nitong BHKCNCM kasi masokista ako.

Itong BHKCNCM ay isa sa mga 20th anniversary offerings ng Star Cinema. Launching movie rin daw ito ng tambalan nila Kim Chiu at Xian Lim na kilala rin sa tawag na KimXi. Para sa akin, mas may chemistry ang KimXi kaysa sa KimErald. Sa My Binondo girl pa lang, napansin ko na kaya talaga nilang makapagpakilig ng mga manonood. Ako pa eh normally NR ako sa mga Pinoy loveteams. Huling nakapagpakilig pa sa akin eh sila Rico Yan (rest in peace, I love you, crush rin kita) at Claudine Barretto sa Got 2 Believe.

Speaking of, naalala ko ang plot ng Got 2 Believe sa simula ng istorya ni Sandy Veloso (Kim) at Alex Prieto (Xian). Girlie na may potential na maging syota material pero may issues lang kasi tanga pumili ng mga lalake (parang ako lang, ang kokontra sasaksakin ko ng toothpick ang eyball) at boylaloo na almost has it all (looks, smarts and yummy body) pero may emotional baggages. Shempre, predictable na ‘yung part na tutulungan nila ‘yung isa’t-isa na mag-ayos ng mga sarili at magkaka-in love-an sila sa huli. Ayos lang na predictable ang plot dahil hindi naman predictable (at least para sa akin na hindi nakabasa nung libro) ang mga hirit. Award na award ang acting ni Kim Chiu. Ang galing pala niyang mag-comedy! I’m sorry pero mas patok siya kaysa kay Sarah G. Minsan kasi yung mga roles ni Sarah ay parang may PhD siya sa pagka-OA. Si Xian Lim, gusto ko ‘yung scenes na sinisigawan niya si Kim. Intense. Pinaka-favorite ko yung scene na wala siyang suot na shirt.

Mahusay rin sila Kean Cipriano, Pokwang, Freddie Webb (Richard Gere of Philippine cinema), Mylene Dizon, Angeline Quinto at yung baklita na kapatid ni Kim doon. Natuwa rin ako na hindi aswang si Lilia Cuntapay dito. Weird naman kung magka-maligno sa movie na ito diba. At shempre, si Ramon Bautista… hindi man siya internet action star dito ay nagampanan niya ng mabuti ang pagiging mahusay extra. Sa lahat ng extra, siya ang bida. Deserving siya makakiha ng Oscar award for this. As in Oscar The Grouch award. (Waley!)

Yung mga kabaduyan nitong movie na ito ay bumagay sa mga eksena. Yung mga nakakatawang parts eh tawang-tawa talaga ako kasi relatable. Masakit man ang mga pinabatid nilang mga katotohanan sa akin eh na-cushion naman ng humor. Hindi ko akalain na itong movie pa na ito ang pinaka-makakapagparealize sa akin na dapat ko na ngang sunugin ang heartbroken dress ko at magsuot na ng move on dress o bikini. Na hindi man ako crush ng crush ko ngayon eh hindi naman ibig sabihin na hindi darating ang araw na magiging mutual rin ang mga bagay-bagay. Isa siyang Gardo kaya maghihintay muna ako ng Alex Prieto ko.

Basta ngayon, ang crush ko muna (na okay lang kahit hindi ako maging crush) ay si Ginoong Ramon Bautista. Tumba na si John Lloyd, Echo at Piolo sa paningin ko dahil sa sheer genius ng obra niya na ito. Sobrang tuwa ko sa BHKCNCM, mamimili ako ng libro at papanoorin ko uli next week ang movie. Kaya ikaw, ikaw na tanga na wasak ang puso, manood ka na rin.

Pahabol: Pati ang kanyang internet show na Tales From The Friend Zone o TFTFZ, binibigyan rin ako ng mga solid learnings. Salamat kay Direk RA Rivera na nagpapanood sa akin ng Episode 6 at natutuhan ko na may Auto Friendzone Feature pala ako. Iyan ang pusta ko kung bakit hindi ako naging crush ng crush ko. Kasi tanga siya. At tanga rin ako.
