The Porch by Casa Verde – Sikatuna Village, Quezon City

Off Maginhawa Street, The Porch is a little place that looks like a traditional American suburb house with its garden at the front yard, wooden exteriors, and of course… the porch.

I guess the popularity of The Porch is due to it being a resto by one of Cebu’s most loved dining destinations, Casa Verde. They have pretty much the same menu. The most popular among the dishes? The Ribs!

One Friday dinner, we went there to try the ribs. I called to make reservations, but they don’t accept any. We got there around 7:30pm. The place was packed, and we were 10th on queue.

Didn’t take too long though for us to get seats, because it’s just the two of us. Too bad for the customers who were there in groups. They had to wait for a long time to be seated. We didn’t wait too long for our order to be brought to our table. We were just really hungry! :p Here’s Miko with his hangry face.

We had the Classic Mushroom Soup- P128, creamy, tastes homemade, loaded with sliced mushrooms. I liked the soup, but I liked the dinner roll more! Miko nailed the description– parang KFC roll dati nung may option ka pa kung rice or roll ang kasama ng chicken. Soft and sweet!

Brian’s Ribs (P250 single order) is big enough for 2. It’s sweet and tangy baked pork ribs that’s quite close to being fork-tender. It’s served with rice and corn and carrots.

Victoria’s Secret Spaghetti (P178) is one of their best sellers. It’s sweet, cheesy, and meaty! Parang pang-children’s birthday party! :D

The Roasted Seasoned Chicken (P228) lacked flavor. It was moist though and panalo ýung kasamang mashed potato. Mmmm mmmm!

To end our meal, we had an rocky road ice cream-based dessert with chocolate cookie crust (that reminded Miko of Cornetto), and drizzled with chocolate syrup (that reminded him of Belgian chocolate) called Death by Chocolate. A dessert to die for indeed. :p Also, mamamatay na kami sa sobrang busog. We didn’t expect their huge servings!

We liked the cozy and homey feel of The Porch and its delicious and reasonably priced food. We’ll be back to try the burgers and milkshakes. :D

If going to Sikatuna is too much of a bother, you can just visit Casa Verde in UP Town Center. :)
