BACON SLAB. The two words that made Miko The Bacon Monster say that we are going to Kapitolyo to eat at Poco Deli.
It’s my first time to eat at the Pasig branch. The Ayala Triangle is closer to me and you can check out my first blog about it by clicking THIS LINK.
Miko’s reaction upon seeing the bacon slab was, “Slab nga! Panis ‘yung sa Heaven’s!” That was in reference to Heaven’s Barbecue that serves gigantic pieces of crispy maple bacon.
As expected, Poco Deli’s Bacon Slab did not disappoint. According to the bacon monster, it’s a cross between liempo and Christmas ham. He didn’t like the rice though. Parang suman sa lagkit. :p
I had the Truffle Oil Pasta with Seafood (380php, same as the bacon). You can opt to have your pasta with mushrooms instead of seafood. I didn’t miss the truffle taste and the pasta was perfectly al dente.
The pasta was an excellent pair with the house wine. They had tempranillo that time. Full-bodied and slightly sweet. Not bad for a 200+php glass of vino.
Poco Deli has a wide selection of reasonably-priced wine and they have various imported beers, too.
For dessert, we had their bestseller– The Blackout Chocolate Cake. I only remembered that day that it’s meant for me because I blacked out from drinking too much scotch just a few weeks before. Hehe.
The Blackout Chocolate Cake (165php/slice) is a delectable rich chocolate cake with chocolate ganache with chocolate chips. I’d rename this Death by Chocolate. Or simply The Best Chocolate cake in Town!
Another happy visit to Poco Deli. Happy food equals happy life? I most def agree. :)
