Chocolate Kiss – UP Diliman

After our late lunch at Mang Jimmy’s and merienda at Mang Larry’s, we went to the Bahay ng Alumni for coffee. Or so we thought. :p

We first saw a relatively new resto called ROC, but decided to eat at Chocolate Kiss instead to cap off a traditional UP food trip. I used to eat at Choc Kiss a lot when I was sill taking my master’s. Dito ako kapag mejo may big budget. Kapag wala, sa Oz Cafe. :p Sayang, wala ng Oz. Ang sarap pa naman ng Molten Choco Lava Cake nila! Pang-compensate sa amoy sabon nilang kape! Nyahaha!

I prefer to eat at CK’s al fresco area on the ground floor but it closes at 6pm. Last I ate there was when we watched Samaskom’s Live AIDS show last 2012. Their area on the 2nd floor is open until 10pm.

Yung iniisip namin na coffee and ake cap off, nadagdagan! Well, this wouldn’t be called a Takaw Trip for nothing! :p Because I still couldn’t get over the lack of siling labuyo for my sawsawan at Mang Jimmy’s and hindi masyadong maanghang na sinamak at Mang Larry’s, I picked a spicy pasta dish called Gamberi.

Had the French Onion Soup (90php) while waiting for the pasta and the chicken quesadillas. The soup was served just the way I like it– just a notch away from boiling point. Great soup- the onions used were perfectly sweet. I just wish there was more melted Swiss cheese. :p

Chicken isn’t my favorite meat but it’s a welcome addition to the quesadillas we had. Sarap! Daming filling! Yummy gooey cheese! Chicken quesadillas for 225php.

Their Gamberi (260php) is one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. Al dente spaghetti with perfectly spicy sauce with chunks of juicy tomato and flavorul shrimps. Actually, amoy pa lang, ang sarap na! It’s the kind of pasta dish I’d like to replicate at home!

We had the Chocolate Kiss Suite (120php) for dessert. It’s 4 little cake samples on one plate. This is perfect for those who wanna try several but do not have tummy space for the regular slices anymore. The flavors we chose were Devil’s Food Cake, Dayap Chiffon Cake, Kahlua Butter Cake and Quezo Chiffon Cake. My fave is still the one with Kahlua. Jan liked the Devil’s Food Cake. Thanks to the super nice and efficient waitstaff who made sure that we got our cakes kasi muntikan magkaubusan!

That night, there was a pianist that provided entertainment to the guests. He played romantic hits such as APO Hiking Society’s Panalangin, Terri De Sario’s Fallin’ and Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman’s Somethin’ Stupid. So there. Nabubusog ka na, kinikilig ka pa. :p

Love you, Chocolate Kiss! You never fail to make me happy and satisfied by serving the good stuff! :)
